STAND-ALONE PV SYSTEM DIMENSIONING FILES
Stand-Alone PV System: it is a self-sufficient electrical system, which is not connected to an electric grid then. It is powered by solar energy. Inside that system an energy storage is needed to store the energy, generated by the solar modules, in order to guarantee a continuous supplying of energy. Therefore, the use of batteries is necessary—for example, of lead-acid batteries
The use of electric energy relies on a charge controller/regulator which adapts the level of charge of the solar modules to the charging of the batteries. Moreover, it controls the levels of charge and gives energy to the loads (appliances, bulbs, etc.), working with a DC and with a 12V/24V low voltage. In case the loads worked with AC, a DC/AC inverter is needed inside the system, featuring a certain frequency and voltage as an output. In Europe, f.e., they are 50Hz and 230V.
